Aruba Soul Beach Music Festival
2018
The 18th Aruba Soul Beach Music Festival edition is behind us. A pretty good lineup of artist/performers was put together for this edition.

For the ones that don’t know about Soul Beach, every U.S. Memorial Day week in May, the island of Aruba has been hosting a week of beach parties, international DJ’s, comedy nights and concerts.

This all started 18 years ago and this year’s lineup included Alicia Keys, Maxwell, Guy, Buddy Lewis, Sevyn Streeter, Marlon Wayans and many more.

Alicia Keys gave a top performance and she rocked the public for a full hour nonstop with her best hits. She brought a very good vibe to the stage. She was very relaxed but yet powerful in her performance.

On the beach, West coast, East coast, Texas or any state, the music made everybody move. From oldies, rap, hip hop to R&B, people descended on the island for a week of parties. And partying, they did.

A word of praise must go to the organizers and sponsors alike. Without the sponsors, this event won’t be made possible.

People will continue to visit the Soul Beach Music Festival in Aruba. These are all adults having a good time.

But the line of good times and healthy fun gets crossed. You can clearly smell the use of weed on the beaches. Is this new? No. Some women are trying to outdo each other by shaking their ass and come close to personal degradation?

Of course, these are things that are not offered or approved by the organizers and sponsors, but should they be more pro-active to create awareness? Honestly, I don't know. The responsibility lies also with each person as to how they behave in public and how they wish to be remembered during this event.

Maybe it’s the alcohol, maybe it’s the sun and the beach, but people let go and they did things that they wouldn’t do otherwise. Remember, what happens in Aruba well won’t only stay in Aruba.

Until next year, peace.

Doc.
